She looked up at me, my eyebrow was raised, and she seemed to calm....for a moment. The boy clerk tried to say, "The pump is ready."
She snaps again. "Why can't you just let me pump."
The boy polity says, "Its pre-pay, I have no control."
This is when she starts screaming, like a child of two throwing a temper-tantrum, and pounds her fists against the counter so hard things on the counter begin to sway and fall, all while she is screaming at the top of her lungs, "Give me my money!"
The boy quickly pulls back out her money, she snatches it up and walks out screaming and yelling about being the customer and she will no longer spend her money there.
The lady who was helping me leaned in and whispered she comes in all the time and yells at them, the boy turns around, I smile at them both and tell them how crazy she was and that they handled it well.
The moral of the story. We live in a time where we have to prepay at the pump, everyone knows this...its no surprise....In fact, when I was lost in Arizona, Deavan and I came across this gas station without a computer, and I looked confused, the driver across from me said: "You pump then you pay." We both marveled how strange it was and laughed.
Regardless of paying before you pump as being fair or not...the woman was way out of control....I rarely see this in public unless they are intoxicated...she was not. Some people just need to chill out. Seriously. Chill out.
